Inspiration

First-year fellows get so many repetitive emails. Everyone gets so many repetitive emails. What if there was a smart and user-friendly way to collect university-related questions and answer them?

What it does

• An NLP model trained on commonly asked questions, grouped by university department.
• A user-friendly widget with a chatbot interface for students to ask questions.
• An admin panel where administrators can answer questions for which the AI couldn't derive an answer. The NLP model retrains itself automatically.
• An Amazon Alexa app using the same data for additional accessibility.

How we built it

• React.js + Sass widget and admin panel
• Node.js backend server with AXA Group NLP library
• Amazon Alexa skill written in Python

Challenges we ran into

• Lack of centralized knowledge. Maybe we could train our model on non-sensitive emails?
