The frustration was a constant companion. I dreamt of a career shift, a new skill that would unlock a world of possibilities. But the path to getting there felt like navigating a dense jungle – overgrown with uncertainty, littered with dead ends, and devoid of a clear direction.

This struggle of navigating upskilling inspired the creation of the Upskill Coach Generative AI application.

What it does

Fueled by my own experiences and fueled by the potential to help others, I embarked on building Upskill Coach. It would be a one-stop shop for all things upskilling, offering:

Personalized Roadmaps: No more one-size-fits-all approaches. The app would take into account your goals, learning style, and current skill level to create a customized learning path. Resource Recommendations: Forget the endless search! The app would curate high-quality resources like online courses, tutorials, and books based on your specific needs. Daily Study Plans: The app would become your drill sergeant, creating daily schedules that fit seamlessly into your existing commitments. Motivational Boosts: We all need a cheerleader! The app would offer motivational messages, track your progress, and celebrate your achievements. Career Path Exploration: Help users discover potential career matches based on their newly acquired skills. Focus on Well-being: The app would incorporate reminders for breaks, mindfulness exercises, and healthy habits to prevent burnout.

How we built it

The Upskill Coach App is being built using PartyRock, a platform that leverages the power of Amazon Bedrock's foundation models (FMs).

Challenges we ran into

Building the app wasn't a walk in the park. There were widget flow considerations and the constant question of user experience. It was a learning journey in its own, but every challenge brought me closer to the vision.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Overcoming Decision Fatigue: We've developed a system for creating personalized learning roadmaps that eliminates the overwhelming task of choosing where to begin upskilling. Users can focus their energy on learning, not planning. Eliminating Resource Roulette: The app curates high-quality learning materials, saving users time and money spent on irrelevant or low-quality resources. Boosting Motivation and Engagement: Daily study plans and motivational features like progress tracking and achievement celebrations keep users engaged and on track with their upskilling goals. Time Management Made Easy: The app integrates seamlessly with existing schedules, creating realistic daily learning goals that fit into users' busy lives. Future-Proofing Careers: By incorporating career path exploration tools, the Upskill Coach App helps users discover new opportunities aligned with their newly acquired skills. Promoting Well-being: By including features like break reminders and mindfulness exercises, the app helps users avoid burnout and maintain a healthy approach to upskilling.

Upskill Coach is still under development, but the vision is clear: to empower individuals to navigate their upskilling journeys with confidence and clarity. It's a personal project fueled by my struggles and the desire to help others find their way out of the upskilling jungle.
