Hexareign bonus project!

Inspiration

I've recently had the pleasure of creating an EVM based game called Hexareign. Having extensive experience with game development, I assumed that the process would be similar, but that is far from the truth:

There is very little infrastructure to help blockchain game development (achievements, etc).
SDKs are still developing, and will require work & tutorials.
There are no platforms to easily export on.
UpsilonX hopes to address these pain points and create a GameFi platform built for developers and gamers alike.

What UpsilonX Does

UpsilonX aims to become the premier platform for blockchain games. To start, we've created two services that developers can use:

UpsilonXTheta Web SDK

ICO Platform

Part of the issue with creating a game is that there isn't a good place to host your ICO. You can try writing your own contract and putting it on your website, but that has zero visibility. There are some websites that provide services, but they charge higher than ideal rates. We hope that by streamlining the ICO process, we will allow even amateur developers to easily go from concept to launch.
Currently 1 ICO is present on UpsilonX: the Hexareign project. Before opening to the public, we hope to afford an external audit from Hackathon funds.

Theta Web SDK

A lightweight package has been published to npm here. This package has thetajs as a dependency, allowing users to interact with UpsilonX ICO contracts in their Theta powered project. We hope to continue building this package so that many Theta powered streaming sites can convert their user's TFuel directly into game currency.

It's Good for the Theta Ecosystem

Take for instance Theta.tv. There are few rewards for users to buy. By implementing UpsilonX smart contract interaction, new gaming rewards can be unlocked. Imagine watching a stream on blockchain gaming and getting in game rewards just for watching. Essentially Twitch rewards for Theta.

What UpsilonX Will Do

The project is in its infancy. First, we aim to be advised by other developers to see what they need to help their blockchain games get shipped. During this project, we discussed the project with some of the Chainsafe team, and hope to continue get advising on what developers want. Second, we aim to build out our offering, since there's a lot more that can be offered on a platform. Possibilities include:

NFT Marketplace
Cross-game NFT Swaps
On-Chain Achievements & Leaderboards
Multichain ICO payments

Challenges We Ran Into

Theta's EVM is less cost effective than some of its altcoin competitors, like Moonriver or HECO. While publishing our smart contracts, about 260 TFuel was burned. While this really only equates to $70, imagine what players would feel to have to pay $0.10+ every time they want to do an in-game action. This is why if Theta desires to take a share in the gaming market, they should hone in on why streaming can help games. Hence, our npm package.

Business Viability

At the core of the platform is connecting players with new blockchain games. Revenue streams come from swap & ICO fees (0.3%), certain paid game services, and paid promotional project advertisements.

A token will eventually be introduced:

Govern platform direction.
Determine which projects are algorithmically promoted on the platform.
Be staked to earn airdrops from upcoming games.
We also hope that UpsilonX will be a good fit for other chains, since cross chain functionality is necessary for blockchain projects to survive. Imagine being able to earn Axies by watching Theta powered streams!

UpsilonX has the capability of evolving into an important infrastructure project for Theta and the crypto gaming space. We simply need someone to believe in us too!
