Inspiration: 44% of college students report signs of depression (Mayo Clinic Health System). As current college students, we see the stresses that college can bring, and we wanted to create a program that works towards bringing down that percentage.
What it does: A user enters an emotion that they are feeling; The program provides unique words of encouragement related to the specified emotion; Resources and other mental health support is provided
How we built it: VS Code/Java (Menu, Input Validation, Case Statements, Methods for each “Mood”)
Challenges: Debugging 50+ compiler errors
Accomplishments: Making efficient code with ELEVEN methods
What we learned: Importance of good coding practices in a cross-functional environment and working step by step
What's next for Upliftify: Making it into a fully functioning app/platform with a AI powered chatbot
