Inspiration

Our own life experience at university and the difficulties we found to keep track of social and club events, as well as finding lab partners for our courses.

What it does

The app allows clubs and associations to publish information that can be useful to the students, such as location, how to join, which clubs they have already joined and need to pay membership for, and announce upcoming events. Students can keep track of events happening on campus as well as create groups (for example, study groups) which can also have events of their own. The app also provides a section to look for lab partners and study buddies for the courses the student is signed up to.

How we built it

We used Android Studio and worked mainly with Java.

Challenges we ran into

Due to it being a hackathon project, time was our biggest challenge. We didn't have time to finish all the functions we wanted to add, for example an automatic schedule maker or online functionalities.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have a robust interface and protoype for an app that we would have loved to have in our early university years, and we think it has the potential to be very useful to future students. We are also proud of how much we have learnt in the little time we had to develop the project.

What's next for UPCLife

We hope to continue development in our free time to finish the app. We are looking to add online functionality, a login system, and more ways to interact with the associations and other students. We also want to add a schedule maker and a map of the campus.
