Inspiration
When discussing the possibilities of our ideas, we came to the conclusion that there was an misrepresentation of the extracurricular activities of students at any university. This is why, we decided to create UPCHub, a fully-customizable website where students can connect with each other to know what is going on in their university. From knowing about every party to collaborating in student associations, UPCHub will be the go-to-website for extracurricular activities.
What it does
UPCHub allows the user to connect with other students in a way that it will allow them to be more involved in extracurricular activities from UPC. In this first version, we aimed to present the first steps of our journey to UPCHub where we have obtained the data of the monthly expenses, the time spent in the library and final balance.
How we built it
Combining our coding skills, we have managed to create this website by using our knowledge in React JS. It has been quite a challenge, despite the language being quite easy, to manage to make everything run smoothly. However, at the very end, we've managed to make everything go as expected.
Challenges we ran into
We've encountered many coding errors that have caused some challenges. On the other hand, the lack of sleep has had a huge impact on the way we've worked and how we've synchronized the group to never stop working.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're definitely really proud on the way how we've managed to keep working all the time.
What we learned
In terms of what we've learned in this project from a coding perspective, we've learned that despite our code looking good there's always a symbol missing that will make everything crash.
What's next for UPCHub
UPCHub will definitely keep evolving in the future. We want to continue working in this project and expaning our idea even more! Once the idea is completed, we eventually would like to potentially launch the idea globally and sell it to as many universities as possible.
