Inspiration

Everybody knows about GoodReads for books, LetterBoxd for movies, and Beli for restaurants. People love sharing things they love. What about a social media review platform for reviewing washrooms? With an added feature of giving you insightful advice about your daily washroom visits!

What it does

iPoo is a washroom review and health platform for university students. Users can:

Find and rate washrooms across different campuses and their buildings
Earn badges based on entries and compete with other users on their leaderboard
Connect with their friends, share experiences, and see eachothers favorite spots
Gain gut health insights through regular analysis and recommendations
Recieve personality types based off pattern visits

How we built it

Frontend: React + TypeScript + Vite with Leaflet for interactive maps

Backend: Node.js + Express + TypeScript REST API

Database: PostgreSQL for users, washrooms, reviews, visits, and social connections

AI Integration: Google Gemini API for personality analysis from visit patterns

Authentication: JWT-based secure authentication

Challenges we ran into

Balancing humour and creativity with application functionality
Building a social network layer on top of the review system

Being able to leverage AI to turn seemingly boring data into insightful health advice
Creating a social network that makes daily human activities fun and bring friends together in more ways than one
