What it does

UofFly is an end to end travel solution which allows students at the University of Illinois — Urbana Champaign to get the most ideal route to get to their homes across the world. The app combines the schedules of Peoria Charter Bus Service to Chicago with flights out of O Hare International Airport, Chicago to find the most convenient combination of both. Through data analysis, the algorithm ranks flights based on cost, duration and fuel efficiency in the order of importance given by the user.

Prizes we are applying for

To the prizes we are applying for

UofFly is a web application which allows end to end route suggestion for students travelling from UIUC to their homes across the world. Through data analysis, our algorithm ranks route combinations of Peoria Charter busses and flights out of ORD on the basis of cost, duration and fuel efficiency. Through our weighted ranking system, we give importance to the parameter of the user's choice by asking them for weights.

How we built it

We used Bootstrap for designing the front end, python for the backend and to tie the project together, Django for the web framework.

Challenges we ran into

Creating the parallax scrolling, getting the backend to work seamlessly with the frontend.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Great User Interface that is easy to use and understand. We are also proud of our weighted algorithm to rank flights based on several factors.

What we learned

Through this project, all of us greatly enhanced many skills, both technical and non-technical. We learnt how to use the Django framework and the Bootstrap framework. We also learnt a lot about teamwork and we feel that this was one of our team's attributes which allowed us to function smoothly throughout the hackathon.
