Inspiration

We noticed that one of the main challenges new students face when they arrive on campus is the overwhelming amount of information they need to process. For some, it quickly becomes stressful; others miss essential details, while some feel completely lost in the middle of all this information flow. To address this issue, we created UoBuddy: an application designed to centralize, organize, and simplify access to all important information, so every student can navigate their campus life easily and confidently.

What it does

UoBuddy centralizes relevant information from the various campus platforms and presents it to students based on their profile: study program, academic year, status (local, international, resident, commuter), and specific needs. The application filters, organizes, and personalizes the content so that each student receives only the information that truly matters to them, at the right time.

How we built it

We built the project using GitHub for team collaboration, along with the various resources and tools introduced during the workshops.

Challenges we ran into

One of the technical challenges we faced was aligning our complex file structure with Vercel’s routing mechanisms so that our Load Balancer could operate as a single entry point. We had to carefully configure the vercel.json file and the Edge Functions to intelligently redirect traffic while protecting our deeper directories. This step was crucial in transforming a local project into a secure, high‑performance, low‑latency Cloud infrastructure.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud to have integrated AI and the new technologies we learned during the workshops into our project.

What we learned

The AI systems integrated into our code allow us to achieve impressive results in very little time.

What's next for UoBuddy

Learn new technologies and integrating them into the project to make it more efficient.
