## The story: Unsolved.exe drops you in the middle of a thrilling heist crime scene, and it is your job to be the lead detective who cracks the case! The Aster Diamond has been stolen while being held at Premier Bank in London ahead of an auction. Its disappearance is discovered the morning after an appraisal, and investigators have identified six people of interest. Examine the case records, unlock supplementary evidence, and submit your findings of who was the culprit behind this and how they did it...

What inspired us:

Given that the theme this year was a heist, we were heavily inspired by the "Unsolved Case Files" murder mystery games. Essentially, we wanted to make a digital version of these with a twist: you interact through the documents/case materials through a computer running a retro style operating system like Windows Vista

How we built our project:

Initially, we began by constructing the entire storyline of the case: beginning with the setting, time period, characters, and choosing the culprit & their motives and working backwards to create how the diamond was stolen from the bank. After doing this, two of us worked on designing the documents (case profiles, reports, emails, etc) the player would use throughout the game to solve the mystery. We researched what tech stack we would use & implemented it utilizing Claude Code.

Challenges we faced:

We faced a couple issues: getting the custom made Python API to work, polishing the storyline & coming up with the characters and events, and setting up Eleven Labs to work since we had never used it before.
