Inspiration

A big inspiration for this project was the platformer "Super Meat Boy". We took some ideas from that game and built off of it to make our own fun to play game.

What it does

Unnamed Platformer ships with 3 levels pre-packaged. But, the game also comes with a level editor, to make your own levels, and play them!

How we built it

The game itself was made by Noah in GameMaker:Studio, while most of the art was made by Faith in Procreate.

Challenges we ran into

One big challenge we ran into was the deadline. As much as we thought we were getting done, the deadline kept creeping closer, and we were working very hard to try and meet it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One thing that we are proud of was being able to get the level editor done in just a few hours. Being able to do this let us focus on the core mechanics of the game, and designing levels.

What we learned

Noah learned a lot not only about GameMaker, but also about making platformer games in general. He is excited to use this knowledge in his other games.

What's next for Unnamed Platformer

After this hackathon, we have had many ideas for Unnamed Platformer. These include: -> A more robust level editor -> More objects (hazards, collectables, etc...) -> An "Event" system, for user-created cutscenes
