Inspiration
The inspiration came from a shared love for atmospheric puzzle exploration and a desire to build a moody, dark coquette game focused on intricate mazes and riddle mechanics instead of high-stress platformers. What it does
UnMake Me is an independent puzzle-exploration game where players navigate complex mazes and decode environmental clues to unravel a mysterious narrative piece by piece.
How we built it
We built the game using the Godot engine with custom scripts for maze generation and riddle triggers, paired with custom digital art assets developed through piskels using collaborative task.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenges included balancing maze complexity to avoid frustration, seamlessly integrating text riddles into physical spaces.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We felt an immense wave of pride when we finally saw our characters come to life on screen. After weeks of staring at sketches, watching them walk, interact, and move through the world we built together made every late-night coding session completely worth it.
What we learned
We learned the vital importance discovered the efficiency of Godot for indie development, and saw firsthand how early prototyping saves major design headaches.
What's next for UnMake Me
Next, we plan to expand the game with new puzzle tiers and deeper story chapters, polish the atmospheric audio and visual effects
