Unlocking Doors

Inspiration

We were inspired by Banyan Labs's mission to help justice-involved persons learn to code and connect them with full-time employment opportunities. We recognized the gap that FIPS face in the issue of trying to secure housing while working these jobs.

What it does

Unlocking Doors connects property groups with FIPS who are looking for short and longterm housing. With the partnership of Banyan Labs and the sponsorship of FIP employers, both FIPS and property owners feel confident in their matches.

How we built it

We built prototypes with Figma and our application with React, JS, and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

Time was a large issue for us, and we were not able to complete all the features we wanted to include within the time period given to us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the amount of work we accomplished in the given time period and how we were able to utilize our diverse backgrounds to contribute equally to the project.

We plan to further flesh out our prototypes and application to be more user-friendly and provide more information for interested applicants and property groups.
