Inspiration

Inspired by really cool gadgets like the Pokewalk and the original Tamagotchi game, we wanted to bring new technology to make it even better and help people achieve their goals.

What it does

Gachirat helps you diet, plan financial goals, and live a more successful life.

How we built it

An ESP-32 + LCD-module provides almost production level device work and firmware with a web application where you can talk and interact with GachiRat.

Challenges we ran into

We ran out of time to implement our full Plaid interface for financial health tracking, we had (and still have) many ideas for features we want to implement. Writing our own graphics drivers was also very challenging yet rewarding, and we can't wait to open source our efforts to help other people make cool stuff!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The total cost of the hardware is around $5 making the product very affordable. Having a ResNet model for vision inferencing to avoid api calls (reduce cost) to Vision-based transformer models. Creating an aesthetically appealing interface for our agent.

What we learned

We learned a lot about system design, networking, graphics, machine learning and LLM pipelines.

What's next for GachiRat

More features! Finishing the Plaid integration for financial health tracking, adding in pedometry to encourage healthy walking habits, shrinking the form factor with a PCB.
