Students manage money across too many disconnected apps—banking, meal plans, dining dollars, subscriptions, event payments. It leads to confusion, lost money, and zero financial clarity. We wanted one place where students can finally understand and control their finances.

UniWallet unifies all student financial accounts into a single dashboard and uses AI to deliver:

  • Spending insights
  • Smart budgets
  • Dining/card balance tracking
  • Personalized financial advice
  • A chatbot that answers money questions instantly

"A smarter wallet for smarter financial decisions."

How we built it:

-> Next.js + Tailwind for a clean, responsive UI -> .NET Core + EF Core for all wallet, card, and transaction APIs -> SQL database for secure storage -> Python Flask service connected to Ollama GPT-20B for AI budgeting and chat -> Integrated everything through REST APIs with role-based architecture

Accomplishments we're proud of:

=> Fully functional AI-powered campus wallet in under 48 hours => Clean multi-service architecture working end-to-end => Modern UI + real financial insights => A chatbot that genuinely helps students make better decisions

What we learned:

How to coordinate multiple stacks and services The importance of simple, actionable financial insights Effective prompt engineering for finance use cases Team synchronization, Git discipline, and fast iteration

What's next for UniWallet – Smarter Wallet, Smarter You.

!! Real bank and campus card integrations !! Mobile app version !! Predictive spending forecasts !! Better AI coaching with user financial history !! University partnerships for full-campus deployment !! Built-in group expense management so students can split bills just like Splitwise.

We plan to add a blockchain-backed layer behind campus wallets like Raider Dollars / RU Express to make every transaction tamper-proof and auditable. A shared ledger across campuses would give vendors cryptographically verifiable records, simplify reconciliation, and reduce disputes, while smart contracts could automate meal plan rollover, refunds, and discounts. Students would keep the same simple UX (no crypto, no wallets), but gain higher transparency, fewer errors, and more trust in how their money is handled.
