Inspiration

The inspiration for this project stems from observing how people with disabilities often feel marginalized or out of place in educational settings. Our goal is to humanize individuals with disabilities by having them interact in a manner that highlights their common humanity with others.

What it does

Throughout the game, we placed interactive NPCs trying to simulate people with disabilities as accurately as possible. Interacting with these NPCs will initiate “quests” that will have the player help them with various tasks.

How we built it

We built our project using the Roblox Studio and made a game using their popular, well-known platform.

Challenges we ran into

Pathfinding for the NPCs was difficult to improve to a usable point. Another problem was how the chat function was broken for a while on the NPCs

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully made a polished chat system with easily interchangeable dialogue and characters.

What we learned

We were able to understand more about groups of disabled people as we researched ways to portray them and integrate them into a society that isn't overly patronizing and overbearing.

What's next for Unity High

Further expansion on varying disabilities with more complex games/puzzles that will better represent the intricacies and quirks that come with their situation.
