Inspiration
Dabbling in MEV last summer led me to really understand the role validators and nodes have in the system. This led to thinking around how can we make Ethereum and other blockchain networks a more decentralized system to enable greater security, robustness - if we can incentivize people to create nodes in a gamified fashion then we can encourage a network secured by a larger number of decentralized groups than it is today.
What it does
Fortnite meets Pokemon Go. The app has scattered NFTs around the city concentrating their locations at local parks and libraries. Users will find these items through the AR lens and select a tool to break them open. The app then reveals an Ethereum coin, the user has just minted an NFT representing they have created a staked claim. They now have 12 days to complete the staking process of gathering 32 ETH to complete the node. Users race to compete over nodes that are available as they are incentivized to receive Credits which they can use as in-app currency or exchange for other tokens. They are able to invite friends to create a pool and build structures around their staking claim.
How we built it
Unity
Challenges we ran into
It was difficult finding the right 3d objects in time to reflect the style and experience we we aiming for
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to get a basic demo done of the AR UX
What we learned
Users are incentivized for different reasons
What's next for United Prospectors Guild
Figuring out the tokenomics to encourage proper governance, finding a staking infrastructure partner (meetings next week), finding/hiring someone to write a smart contract router to Unity objects, working with a designer to create 3d objects, theres probably alot more
