Inspiration

Uniseries was inspired by the idea that meaningful human connection is missing from most social platforms. We wanted to create a space where curiosity, discovery, and genuine conversations thrive—powered by AI.

What it does

Uniseries is an AI-powered social network that uses Perplexity’s Sonar API to help users ask smarter questions, discover interesting people, and spark meaningful conversations. It's like having an AI friends that helps you connect with others based on shared knowledge and curiosity.

How we built it

We built Uniseries using Perplexity’s Sonar API to handle real-time search, citations, and reasoning. The front end is built with Next.js and TailwindCSS, and the backend runs on Node.js and Express.js, with MongoDB handling authentication and storage.

Challenges we ran into

  • Fine-tuning prompts to generate helpful, context-aware answers.
  • Balancing privacy and personalization.
  • Integrating AI into social interactions without losing the human feel.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Seamless integration of Sonar for real-time, AI-assisted conversations.
  • Created a space where users are matched through curiosity and shared interests.
  • Early user tests showed increased engagement through AI-aided discovery.

What we learned

  • AI is powerful, but context and empathy matter more.
  • Users value transparency and authenticity in AI suggestions.
  • Community and curiosity go hand-in-hand.

What's next for Uniseries

  • Launch a beta version with a core group of users.
  • Expand matching capabilities with deeper reasoning and profile understanding.
  • Explore partnerships to embed Uniseries in other platforms for broader access.
