Inspiration
I have seen a lot of my friends and seniors struggle to look for colleges in other countries. Not knowing about the country and how the courses work and what to expect, they tend to choose the wrong college and regret it. Everyone wants an awesome college experience when they are looking for foreign options but, when they fail to choose the right college, the entire journey fails. Thus, comes into the picture UniSearch
What it does
UniSearch provides a platform for all the students to choose the colleges based on their country preference. All a student has to do is swipe left or right until he/she finds the right college!
How we built it
We built it using the technologies HTML,CSS,Bootstrap,React.js and deployed and used backend in Firebase!
Challenges we ran into
All of us in the team are quite unfamiliar with the Back-end section and thus we kind of struggled to understand how to go about it. There was a point when we thought we could drop it but we pulled ourselves together and pushed forward to complete it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Since we do not know much about Backend and how exactly to work things out, we had a bit of a hard time understanding some concepts here and there but, we braved it all! I am super proud of how fast we learned and applied the concepts, not to a level of proficiency, just enough for us to be able to manage this particular project within a short period of time.
What we learned
There definitely was a steep learning growth for all of us. It is quite shocking how much one can learn in a span of 36 hours while doing a project along with a week-long arrangement of workshops for additional aid. We learnt how to work as a team, acknowledge and accept the different ways of thinking and finally come up with a project idea and submit it! Apart from that, we learnt a lot in the Backend development section and we managed to implement it to a certain extent in our project.
What's next for UniSearch
We would like to focus more on the Backend portion and would like to include more features into the application like the chatbot which would connect the students to the college admin authorities. Our application has a long way to go but we definitely believe that we will reach our destination fast!
