Inspiration

My previous venture in web3 was building gaming clubs in Universities to enable the introduction & distribution of web3 games. I built that in 1000+ Indian universities & colleges. My focus there was to eventually enable universities to build crypto treasuries. Meanwhile, there was no easy way to build this gaming club/student ambassador program meaningfully. Additionally, I discovered that universities waste $50K-100K annually juggling 10+ disconnected systems while students get lost in administrative chaos and are completely disconnected. Meanwhile, $823 billion in university endowments are managed with Excel spreadsheets. All ideas aligned to build a progressive system approach that solves the initial chaos and builds a more connected ecosystem, enabling broader distribution.

What it does

Unirā - The University Operating System Unirā is the "iPhone moment" for universities - one beautiful platform replacing 5-10 fragmented systems:

1. Students get a TikTok-style dashboard with clubs, payments, and social features
2. Faculty manage classes, grades, and research in one place
3. Admins control finances, endowments, and operations
4. Alumni network, mentor, and give back seamlessly

Think Notion + Discord + Venmo, but designed specifically for higher education.

How we built it

Frontend: React + Tailwind CSS on Bolt.new for rapid prototyping Backend: Node.js Design: desktop-first, role-based dashboards with smooth transitions Data: Mock data with realistic university scenarios with 1,247 students, 89 faculty, $2.1M in funds Built live during the hackathon with zero downtime! 🚀

Challenges we ran into

Layout nightmares: Making responsive dashboards that don't break when sidebars collapse Role complexity: Ensuring students can't accidentally access the endowment fund 😅 Real-time sync: Keeping club activities, payments, and notifications in perfect harmony Scope creep: I kept saying "just one more feature..."

What we learned

University software is stuck in 2005 - massive opportunity! Students want social features, admins want compliance, faculty want simplicity Building for multiple user types is like solving 4 puzzles simultaneously Sometimes the best MVP is the one that actually ships 🚢

Most importantly - Bolt.new is incredibly powerful for rapid prototyping complex applications
