Inspiration

All those times when we just wished that Facebook sell/buy/connect forums would just match us up without having to go through the trouble ourselves.

UniQuest is a pun on uniquest, because all quests are unique! Cheesiness aside, it also plays with University Quest - what each user creates. The quest angle itself came from old school video game quest/mission systems.

What it does

UniQuest connects user-submitted Quests with Questers who might fulfill them. A Quest first asks whether you want something (i.e. a study buddy, a cute black dress) or if you're giving something (said cute black dress, an old textbook, etc.). Users also specify what they want in return, or what they're willing to exchange - currencies we call "goods" or "services."

On the other side, Questers can search for Quests, track ones that interest them, and reach out to finalize exchanges.

Goods can be money, or food. Services can be tutoring, or a music lesson, or art commission. It really is up to the users to define how they want to exchange - Uniquest merely facilitates it.

How we built it

Using HTML, CSS, and Javascript for the front-end, and Google Cloud API for the back-end.

Challenges we ran into

  • Lack of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Melissa - I created webpages for the first time since high school!

Kat - Improving my HTML coding skills.

Binta - The Design

Melody - Learning Google Cloud API.

What we learned

It's hard to create a website in such a short amount of time.

What's next for UniQuest

Actually adding in all the features we had planned! Maybe even creating an app.
