Inspiration
In our senior year of high school, we understood and resonated with the struggles of deciding between a university and a program. This inspired us to create a bot that would guide students like us in making the best decision for their future.
What it does
UniQua is a chatbot that allows users to interact with it. The bot asks the users to give the university programs they are interested in and their current averages in grade 12. Then, it uses this information to analyze and report the best university and program decision that is unique to them.
How I built it
We built it using Python, Pycharm and Tkinter for the GUI.
Challenges I ran into
The challenges that we faced were that we had no prior experience with graphics and GUIs, so we had to resort to watching tutorials and online resources to assist us in learning. In addition, the time frame given to us was minimal, and because this our first hackathon, we struggled with planning, designing and prioritizing our time.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Getting the bot to run initially was challenging, but after testing and debugging for several hours, the code ran as planned. This was highly rewarding for us as this was our first time creating a chatbot.
What I learned
From this experience, we got to dive into Artificial Intelligence, which we both are enthusiastic about and also got to use the Tkinter package,
What's next for UniQua
We are planning to enhance the program further and more intelligent so that it can take several types of user inputs.
Built With
- pycharm
