About the Project

UniPortal is an AI-powered multilingual civic platform designed to simplify access to government services for every Indian. It helps users discover government schemes, understand official documents, report civic issues, and receive AI-powered guidance through a single, user-friendly interface.

We built the project using a generative AI development platform with a scalable, responsive design and planned integration with AI for multilingual support and document assistance. Our biggest challenge was creating an accessible platform that works for users of all languages, ages, and digital literacy levels while keeping the experience simple and intuitive.

UniPortal is an AI-powered multilingual civic platform that brings essential government services together in one place. It helps users discover government schemes, understand official documents, receive AI-guided assistance, report civic issues, access emergency services, and navigate public services through an intuitive interface. The platform is designed with accessibility at its core, supporting voice interaction, multilingual communication, and responsive design for users across India.

How we built it

We designed UniPortal as a modern Progressive Web Application (PWA) with a scalable architecture. The interface was generated and refined using a generative AI development platform, allowing rapid prototyping while maintaining a professional, production-ready design. The platform is structured to integrate with AI models such as Gemini for conversational assistance, multilingual support, document understanding, summarization, and personalized recommendations. It also includes modular components for dashboards, complaints, document management, notifications, and future integration with official government APIs.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing a platform that could serve users from diverse backgrounds while keeping the experience simple and intuitive. Planning multilingual support, accessibility features, AI-driven document assistance, and a unified interface without overwhelming users required careful design decisions. Another challenge was ensuring that the platform remains scalable and ready for future integration with verified government APIs while clearly distinguishing demo features from live services.
