Inspiration
We saw the mental health of classmates decline during the pandemic because of the lack of socialization that was possible during these times. We couldn't meet people in our classes because everything was online so we thought to create this platform to meet people around us and with similar interests.
What it does
This platform creates a social network within individual universities that allows its students to meet each other by taking input such as interests, classes, majors, and year. With this website, users can chat, schedule meetings, and find new friends in the area.
How I built it
We prototyped the product with as much detail as we could using the platform Figma. So far we have basic HTML and CSS of the product.
Challenges I ran into
We had trouble finding enough time to fully develop our product.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are really proud of our idea and believe a product like this is essential to this new style of learning in universities in order to keep spirits up during these negative times. We also believe the design of our website is user-friendly and very efficient so anyone could use it.
What I learned
We learned it is really important to have a thorough prototype and detailed ideas before jumping into coding.
What's next for UniPals
We wish to finish building our product and one-day launch it.
