Inspirations
Inspiration for UniNet came from the observation that people are becoming increasingly distant from one another in today's society. The project aims to bring people closer together by allowing them to communicate with each other in real-time.
How we build this Project
Through lots of research, we created the main chat function using Google's Firebase API and ReactJS to display the texts. Along with that, we created a custom user login and signup that can hash passwords to ensure security with HTML and Javascript.
Challenges
Our team successfully collaborated to complete the project, with each member taking on a specific task. However, we encountered some challenges along the way, such as an issue with creating a real-time chat database. Despite these obstacles, we are proud of what we have accomplished, including the process of learning JavaScript and HTML for web design and development.
Future Extensions
Moving forward, we plan to expand UniNet by adding a filter range feature, where users can communicate with others based on their proximity to each other. This filter range feature would allow users to see a list of people to chat with, ordered by proximity, with the closest users appearing first. For example, if User1 wanted to communicate with users nearest to them, they would see a list of users ordered by distance, with the closest user appearing at the top of the list.
