Inspiration

We recognized a common hurdle for students who complete their education in one country and wish to continue it in another, especially when the new university is outside their home educational system. The challenge lies in equating previously studied courses with the programs and requirements of the new university. UniHelp was inspired by the need to simplify this complex process.

What it does

UniHelp serves as a digital assistant for department secretaries, helping them to recognize and match courses completed at a foreign university with those offered at their institution. This ensures that students can transfer the maximum amount of credits and continue their education with ease.

How we built it

We are in the process of developing a smart contract for universities, which will hold a catalog of all the courses they teach. This smart contract is responsible for logging information about recognized courses onto the blockchain. The data for this contract is inputted through a component built on a Blockchain Operating System (BOS), enabling secure and efficient data management.

Challenges we ran into

Designing a smart contract that can accurately represent complex course data and ensuring the privacy and security of academic information on a public ledger were significant technical challenges. Moreover, creating an intuitive interface on the BOS for non-technical university staff added a layer of complexity.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We take pride in developing a solution that not only simplifies the administrative process of credit transfers but also promotes educational mobility across borders. The potential impact of UniHelp on international education is a significant accomplishment for our team.

What we learned

This project has enhanced our understanding of blockchain technology's application in the educational sector and the importance of creating user-friendly systems for academic administration. We've also gained valuable insights into the intricacies of credit systems in different countries.

What's next for UniHelp

The next steps for UniHelp include refining the smart contract, expanding the course database to include more international universities, and beginning trials with select educational institutions. Our goal is to establish UniHelp as a standard tool for managing international credit transfers and to support the global educational community.
