Inspiration
Our inspiration comes from our own experiences. Growing up, we were always curious, wanting to explore new hobbies, learn fresh skills, and try different things. But the reality was, it often felt out of reach because of how expensive everything was. That’s what sparked the idea: what if learning didn’t have to come with a price tag?
What it does
UniFuse is a Tinder-style barter system for skills. Everyone has something they’re good at, whether they realize it or not. With UniFuse, people can share their expertise by teaching others, and in exchange, pick up the skills they’ve always dreamed of learning. It’s a cycle of growth: teach, learn, improve.
How we built it
We built UniFuse using React Native, Expo, and Firebase. React Native powers both the frontend and backend, Expo allowed us to test and iterate quickly, and Firebase made our matching system possible.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenge was with Firebase since none of us have ever used it before. Setting it up and getting the match feature to work was the hardest and the most time taking.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how much we accomplished on the app. We had an idea to start with, but had no idea how much we would be able to execute. Not to mention this is both of our first hackathon so we had no idea what to expect. But nonetheless, we are proud that we have something functional to present and pitch our idea to.
What we learned
We both learned a lot about the the different technolgoies. We definitely learned how much potential we have. We were able to accomplish so much in such a short amount of time and we believe we can accomplish more later on.
What's next for UniFuse
For now, none of us have thought about this question, however, we believe we can take this app to the next level. With more UI/UX designing and the right pitching, we believe this app can become better and more wide spread.
