Inspiration: The current system of compartmentalizing and organization of Cadet uniform orders and exchanges are all done in an analog manner. It's time for local Cadet Organizations to update their paper system to a localized database and order sheet format via Website. The main incentive is to save production costs in ordering uniforms that do exist (usually due to archiving issues). Also the cost of paper is essentially cut completely due to the digital switch over.

How it works: The idea of Uniform has a dual meaning, both the article of clothing that represents and group/institution AND the concept of continuity, wholeness and localization. The website has a ton of database query functionality that are user friendly to both the admin and anyone Cadet wishing to either search for used cadet uniforms or place an order on a brand new uniform. The idea is that each city will have a centralized location where Cadets can initially go to input basic information like Name, Age, Body Dimensions etc, and can automatically get feedback regarding pre-existing cadet uniforms. Keeping a localized database will ensure that all uniforms are logged and archived, which can be accessed from any location.

Challenges I ran into: There were many languages that only our software engineering teammate knew how to reference and link, whereas my knowledge of HTML and CSS would only contribute to a portion of the website/database link.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of: Being able to work in a positive, synergistic team environment in which we developed a webpage linked to a centralized database. Strengthening pre-existing friendships and meeting other like-minded individuals that have inspired me to delve into the world of coding. With this excitement, I will attend the next intercollegiate Hackathon.

What I learned: The languages used and learned are as followed: HTML, CSS, Javascirpt, Foundation, php, jQuery, mySQL.

What's next for Uniform: Incorporating this database with the current Cadet Organizations in Ontario will eventually move all paper information to a potential global database. This idea of a database system can be introduced within the Navy/Army Cadet Corp, Schooling Systems and Athletics Uniforms. Also, Uniform may one day help local communities save money from tracking usable uniforms that can be passed down generations without it being lost through a paper system. This is micromanagement at its finest, and Uniform is simply a microcosm of what is yet to come in moving pre-existing analog systems to a digital world.
