Inspiration
Current university life is fragmented. Academic materials like PYQs, topper notes, teacher provided materials are scattered across various WhatsApp groups, Google Drive links etc. Meanwhile, competitive coding practice remains isolated from course curricula, and students have no safe, zero-commission platform to offer peer help or earn micro-income. To make matters worse, sometimes hostel Wi-Fi outages during exam nights completely cut students off from cloud-only resources.
We created UniDu to unify all these student needs into a single, reliable, and secure campus ecosystem.
What it does
UniDu is an all-in-one student platform designed around four core pillars:
- Centralized Academic Repository & AI: Access subject-wise PYQs, topper notes, and an AI "Doubt Buster" that generates PDF summaries and flashcards.
- Curriculum-Mapped Coding Contests: LeetCode-style competitive coding integrated with university courses, featuring department leaderboards (CSE vs ECE vs IT) protected by single-device Reg-No verification.
- Campus Micro-Gigs (PeerAssist): A hyper-local student marketplace for task assistance (code debugging, slide design, printing) operating on a 0% commission model with direct peer-to-peer UPI payments.
- Hybrid Cloud & Offline Mesh: Offers 10 GB free cloud storage per student alongside 100% offline-first local caching and P2P Bluetooth/Wi-Fi mesh sharing for campus internet blackouts.
How we built it
As a non-code innovation challenge concept, we designed the complete product strategy, platform architecture, hardware-bound security framework, and freemium business model (Free: 10GB Vault; Pro: 30GB @ ₹49/month). We validated user flows for academic search, contest integrity, and peer-to-peer offline mesh file transfers.
Challenges we faced
Structuring a secure peer-to-peer micro-gig economy without introducing fraud or platform fees was a major challenge. We solved this by implementing single-device University Registration Number authentication to ensure total accountability and hardware-bound trust.
What's next for UniDu
We plan to launch grassroots pilot programs starting with Class Representatives (CRs) and coding clubs, expanding across engineering departments before rolling out to partner universities.
