Inspiration

Starting from the guiding questions for the healthcare track, we started off thinking what gaps were there in our healthcare system. Our conclusion was that University students needed our help. Being at the age where they start to become more independent from their parents, we wanted to make sure that they have constant reminders to stay healthy and not to neglect their health.

What it does

With our target audience of University students, we decided to focus on mental wellbeing as well as physical fitness. The user starts off by logging into the home page which will give small snippets of information regarding current events such as covid19 updates, health tips etc. This is good as people nowadays tend to have a shorter attention span. We want to be able to connect stressed out students with a counselor as quick and seamlessly as possible so that will be one of our tabs. Besides that we will implement a health tab where students can complete quests such as reaching certain number of steps or sleeping for certain number of hours to gain experience points to level up to win small rewards perhaps fruits from canteen stalls, with better rewards like vouchers at larger milestones every 10 levels. This will appeal to many Uni students who have interest in games with the experience and levelling system.

How we built it

We used flutter to built and design the app as well as firebase to store user data.

Challenges we ran into

Other than 1 person in our 4 man team, the rest of us were new to using flutter besides the workshop that was help before the event, it was tough and we had to look up a lot of online documentation as well as learning from our more experienced member to reach our goal.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the troubles we managed to make the code work and made a great looking app before the end of the 24hrs and had fun doing so together as a team as well!

What we learned

Besides improving our skills in Flutter and Firebase, coming up with the idea was great as we learned to consider the user experience and putting ourselves in the users shoes before actually started on the project itself.

What's next for UNIdHealth

We believe that UNIdHealth has much room for growth starting with implementing a friend list and community feature where University students can connect with one another and support each other. We believe that peer support is important in students maintaining good mental health as well as persevering towards good physical health as well.
