Inspiration
We saw a huge gap: people own cars, buildings, or equipment they barely use — while others need those things short-term but can’t afford to buy them. That’s why we built Unicorn.
What it does
Unicorn is a peer-to-peer leasing platform. Owners make money from idle assets. Lessees save by paying only for what they need. Trust scores and reviews keep transactions safe.
How we built it
We’re creating a mobile-first MVP with React Native and Paystack. As a two-person team, we handled everything — from brainstorming and design to wireframes, validation, and coding.
Challenges
Balancing ease of use with strong verification, building a trust model, and choosing which categories to launch first.
Accomplishments
Built a trust framework, designed end-to-end user flows, and proved we can go beyond Airbnb/Getaround by offering multi-category leasing in one place.
What we learned
Trust matters more than features. Simple design builds confidence. And teamwork speeds everything up.
What’s next
Complete the MVP, test with early users, partner with insurance, and scale into a multi-category platform that unlocks value from idle assets.
