Inspiration
We noticed that there wasn't a definitive place to buy and sell clothes, goods, and other things locally (on campus). We wanted to build a platform where we can use social media as a gate for college students to meet and be provided an easy way to buy and sell goods locally.
What it does
An online market place that connects you with students nearby to facilitate local transactions.
How we built it
Programmed with cursor, typescript end to end, Prisma as our ORM, and SQLite as the database. This was all facilitated and hosted on AWS EC2.
Challenges we ran into
We had a hard time integrating the software into a website using AWS EC2. We have never hosted a project on a web service, or even made a coding project ever in our lives!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to be here and see this experience through. A lot of the stuff we did was a first time for us and we are happy to have a finished project.
What we learned
We learned how powerful coding tools like claude and cursor are at making coding projects. We also learned how to upload a website to AWS web services using EC2.
What's next for UniBuy
We will continue to expand our project and implement new features, fix bugs, and eventually try to start this website into a real business.
