This project means a lot to us!

In high school, my friends and I were clueless when it came to college. We found a website called CollegeVine, but all it did was provide an estimated admissions chance from 0-100 for colleges. Students need real guidance, support, and knowledge. Everyone deserves a great academic advisor! That is why we made UniBro! We aim to level the playing field when it comes to college admissions and make guidance in college admissions easily accessible to everyone, not just those who can afford expensive consultants.

What it does

First, you enter your skills and interests, and your entire CommonApp application. Next, you choose the colleges you want to apply to and paste in their college-specific prompts. The website automatically turns these into text boxes to write in. Once you are done with your application, our AI, CounselorBro, analyzes your overall profile and application, and give you a percentage chance on getting into that college. However, this is not the main part of our project! Next, in order to improve your admissions chances, UniBro creates a comprehensive game plan based on given date intervals. This game plan suggests opportunities in your area based on your interest, such as specific internships or programs. UniBro provides not only a highly accurate admissions chance, but real guidance on how to improve it! In addition to all this, our AI chatbot, CounselorBro, who has full knowledge of your profile and applications, is available anytime for asking questions or to gain guidance! You can even talk to CounselorBro in a human-like conversation with text-to-speech and speech-to-text.

How we built it

Gemini for LLM, ElevenLabs for AI voice output, Vercel for hosting, GoDaddy for domain, GitHub for collaboration.

Challenges we ran into

We have never hosted our project on a website before! We had to learn a lot and overcome a lot of annoying challenges! We also had a lot of problems with our several APIs that slowed us down. Accomplishments that we're proud of We are very proud that we have created something that solved a problem that us, and many other students like us had, even if they did not realize it.
