Remove tracking parameters from links on iOS

Inspiration

We were inspired by projects like UntrackMe, ClearURLs, and Privacy Redirect that cleaned URL's to help make the links we share/visit more privacy-friendly.

What it does

Users on iOS can either use a share sheet to import a link into Uni to be cleaned or paste a link into a text box within the app. Then, Uni will remove tracking modules according to a predefined list. Uni will also replace proprietary services with privacy-respecting, alternative frontends for sites like Twitter, Reddit, and YouTube.

How we built it

We built this app using SwiftUI

Challenges we ran into

SwiftUI proved to be very difficult to work with, mainly because of Apple's poor documentation and multiple ways to do similar things

What we learned

We learned how to create iOS applications, as well as how to read other large codebases to learn how we should implement similar functionality in our own applications

What's next for Uni

We intend to add more customization features into Unit, such as what alternative frontends are available to users. We also would like to publish this app to the App Store
