Inspiration
With only 24 hours, we wanted to add a twist to an existing game, deciding trying to implement more 3d mechanics to a game like angry birds. With our skillsets of various creative tools we were able to effectively split work between us three with a project such as a game.
What it does
In this game you are responsible for feeding birds and breeding them to create more birds, these birds are then used to launch at various terrain levels, scoring points based on your destruction. This destruction rewards you with seeds, which you use to feed the birds and expand your army.
How we built it
We built this project in Unity, designing a majority of the models in blender.
Challenges we ran into
Setting up the tools to make building the various levels took a while which was unexpected, we realised that the relationship between time taken to beat the level and the size of the level were not linear, and we had to expand the scope of our terrain building for the various maps.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are happy to have been able to have a playable gameplay loop that highlights the core mechanics of the game, while being a demo it shows what the game is about and how fun the concept can be
What we learned
We all improved a lot with our visual design work, designing models from scratch and implementing custom shaders for things such as the cannon reticle proved as learning experiences that we hope to carry into future game development projects.
