Inspiration

Our inspiration comes from the droughts in California. In California people are always trying to conserve as much water as possible. Our app aims to help people conserve as much water as possible to help the environment.

What it does

Our app is used to track how much water you have used. Whenever you take a shower, use a dishwasher, etc. you can input it on unguzzle. When you input it on unguzzle it will keep track of the water you have used. Here you can see if you are using too much water and need to use less. Our app helps bring awareness on how much water you have used.

How we built it

We built our app using python. We used Sublime Text to write our code and used tkinter to create the UI. We always met on zoom to create the project. Once we agreed on an idea we started working. We drew our idea on a whiteboard and began creating it. While one person wrote the code the other either worked on the logo, video, Project Overview, Project Details, Additional Info or helped them make the code.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge that we ran into was time. We didn’t have much time where we were both free so it was hard to find a time to meet. If we could meet, it wouldn't last very long. If we couldn’t meet, one person would work on one part of the project at one time and the other would work on a different part. Another problem we ran into was related to the code. We were both on different operating systems so some things we could do on one.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One accomplishment that we are both proud of is the amount of work that we were able to do in such a short amount of time. In only two days two of us were able to create a functional app and create a video on it. We are both surprised by our abilities when it comes to coding. We were also proud of the fact that we could create code and use the documentation without the help of anyone outside the two of us.

What we learned

We both learned a lot when creating unguzzle. We learned how helpful it is to plan ahead and draw your idea. This way it’s easier to create because you already have a clear picture of what you want to create and what you want to add. We also learned a lot about python and tkinter. We further learned how to use tkinter to its fullest to create the UI and make it easier to use and look good at the same time.

What's next for unguzzle

We plan to make unguzzle easier to access and use for the general public. At the moment you can only access unguzzle through python either on Replit or as a file. We plan to make it accessible from your phone as an app and other websites on your computer.
