Inspiration

In the fashion world, things are often gatekept. Whether it’s a TikTok influence or a pintrest post, trying to find your aesthetic can be frustrating. We wanted to build something that makes discovering and owning your style effortless and accessible.

What it does

Ungatekeep is your personal AI fashion assistant. Upload a photo or describe your favorite fit, and Ungatekeep will instantly analyze your aesthetic. We’ll show you what pieces are featured and the best places to buy similar clothes. We maintain a dynamic style profile that evolves with your aesthetic, so recommendations become more informed over time.

How we built it

We built the entire project in Firebase studio, with react and tailwind, as well as typescript.

Challenges we ran into

Collaboration and time management. We had a hard time divvying up work and defining clear roles. Our biggest problem was definitely keeping everyone on the same page.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our UI, as well as our search functionality for finding relevant pieces.

What we learned

We learned how to use React, Tailwind, as well as how to use GSE and Gemini. API integrations and working in the full tech stack was hard for us, as we were all originally front-end developers

What's next for Ungatekeep

Ungatekeep has a lot of potential, from being able to directly shop on the site as a marketplace, to being able to find the best prices and alternatives for whatever pieces you are looking for. We also want to include things like wardrobes, where people can upload their current clothing, and have suggestions for new pieces.
