What it does

UncookedAura is an AI-powered internship and networking assistant built specifically for CSE majors and students across disciplines who are just getting their foot in the door. It learns your skills, your year in school, and your goals to surface internships that are actually attainable and relevant.

Beyond job hunting, it connects you to social networking events, hackathons, and career fairs so you're not just applying blindly; you're building real relationships that open real doors.

How we built it

We leaned heavily on the open-source ecosystem to move fast without sacrificing quality. Our UI was built with shadcn/ui, giving us a clean, accessible component library that let us focus on the logic rather than reinventing buttons. We integrated AI-driven matching to align student profiles with internship listings and event recommendations, wiring everything together through a modern full-stack pipeline.

Challenges we ran into

Vibe code not fulfilling the needs and rules in UI/UX design. We had to pause and deliberately audit our design decisions against actual usability standards, which was a humbling but necessary reset.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're also proud of building something that genuinely speaks to students rather than recycling the corporate polish of existing platforms. This was our second time shipping a product end-to-end under a hackathon deadline, and we actually finished it.

What we learned

We learned that AI-assisted development is a multiplier, not a replacement for intentional design thinking. Shipping fast is great; shipping something people can actually use is better. We also got a much deeper appreciation for accessibility and visual hierarchy; small decisions in UI have a massive impact on whether users trust your product.

What's next for UncookedAura

We want to expand beyond CSE and build out profiles for other STEM and non-STEM majors, because the internship struggle is universal. On the roadmap: resume feedback powered by AI, alumni networking integrations, and notification alerts for new listings that match your profile in real time.
