Inspiration

Coming from a country where mental health awareness is not taken seriously or according to society, it is a 'sign of weakness'. I had struggled for a while with anxiety and depression and I was too ashamed to ask for help. I found out that writing down how I felt made it a lot better, from writing down my feelings I started leaning towards music and that has been a saving grace and for the first time I did not feel like I was not alone. I know there are people who are also struggling and this is my own way of telling them that are also not alone.

What it does

Unburden is a platform where people who feel overwhelmed with emotions or who just need a place to vent could come to without feeling judged or ashamed to ask for help. Online therapy with professionals who are aimed at making sure you get the help you need. Story circles, people with similar issues share their stories and how they were able to overcome them. Music therapy, wellness tracking and journaling.

How we built it

It was built using canva.

Challenges we ran into

It was our first ever experience with both creating a mental health project and also a website, so we had a lot of challenges and made a lot of mistakes. The most challenging was trying to create a demo video for the website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are grateful to have had such and experience. Being able to help people in need and making them know that they are not alone is such an eye opening experience. We were able to build our very first website.

What we learned

Despite all the setbacks we faced, this project had a lot of impact. We learnt patience and dedication. We learnt to keep pushing through and that despite all our mistakes and failures, we should try and try again.

What's next for UNBURDEN

Unburden would keep global and reach those who need help but are too scared to ask for it.
