The Inspiration
I have ADHD, and for my whole life, I've hated to-do lists. For me, they've always been a source of anxiety and guilt, not a tool for productivity. I would make a list, feel completely overwhelmed by it, and then avoid it entirely. I knew there had to be a better way.
I wanted to create something that helps me, and others like me, get things done without the pressure.
How I Built It
The result is Unburden, an app built on a simple idea: instead of looking at a long list, the app asks how you're feeling and gives you just one task that matches your current energy level.
Honestly, building this would have been impossible for me just a short time ago. The real magic behind the scenes was using Bolt.new. It felt like magic. It allowed me to turn my idea into a real, functioning application in a way that felt intuitive and powerful. It handled the complexity and I could focus on iterating over the UI and the functionality. I felt like a kid playing with Legos for the first time :D
Who It's For
I built this to help myself, but my hope is that it helps anyone who feels overwhelmed by their tasks, whether you have ADHD or just hate staring at a giant list of things to do. It’s for anyone who wants a gentler, more human approach to productivity.
What I Learned
This project was a huge challenge, but it was also incredibly rewarding. The biggest thing I learned is that sometimes the best tools are the ones that do less, not more. I've also learned a lot aobut web development, somethign that always seemed crazy complicated to me. Well, it still does, but with Bolt I can make soem sense of it. It's been amazing to build something that genuinely solves a problem I've faced my entire life.
