📦 About the Project

UnboxLater is a minimalist utility app designed to help users reduce impulse purchases by introducing a simple but powerful behavior: pause before you buy.

The app allows users to enter an item they’re tempted to purchase, assign a price, and set a delay (like 3 or 7 days). When the delay ends, the user is prompted:

“Still want this?”

If not, the app adds the item’s price to a “Money Saved” tracker—helping people reflect on wants vs. needs in a gentle, non-judgmental way.

💡 Inspiration

This project was born from a single idea generated by ChatGPT:

“Create a utility app that delays gratification for online purchases and helps users track how much money they’ve saved by skipping impulse buys.”

That idea became UnboxLater—a prompt crafted entirely by AI and passed to Bolt.new, which generated the complete frontend app with no further edits or human creative input.

✨ There were no challenges. No iteration. Just a single shot from concept to code.

🛠️ How It Was Built

• 🧠 The prompt was written by ChatGPT based on a high-level theme:
  “useful apps everyone needs but don’t know they need”.
• 🧱 The generated prompt included structure, styling (Tailwind), UI components (shadcn/ui), icons (Lucide), and local state logic.
• ⚡ Bolt.new’s prompt-to-app system built the full working app from this one prompt, enhancing structure and layout automatically.
• 🛑 No manual edits were made after generation.

The result is a clean, responsive, mobile-friendly utility that feels hand-crafted—yet was entirely AI-built.

📘 What We Learned

This project was an experiment in trusting the tools.

By letting ChatGPT ideate and write the full spec—and Bolt.new bring it to life—it showed how far no-code/low-input development has come.
