What is the problem your solution addresses?

The digital age has provided artists the ability to engage on a multitude of platforms where they can meet and engage with different types of creators around the world. However, this plethora of resources can prove to be a disadvantage, as there is so much information available, one may feel overwhelmed or not know where to start. As a result, our team designed an art prompt generator and sharing platform combined, and as tribute to the experience of “artist’s block” we named it Unblocked. Unblocked is curated for creatives to discover and gain inspiration from fellow creatives and challenge themselves to express their creativity.

Why did you pick this solution, and how does it address the problem?

Artist's block is defined to be a moment when an artist feels like their creativity is inhibited and struggles to make a new piece of work. Our platform is called Unblock as it is a way to combat artist's block. Moreover, to alleviate artist's block, one must obtain inspiration and overcome their fear of imperfection. Unblock facilitates both of these for artists by producing a variety of challenge prompts based on the user's genre(s) of interests. Once they have settled on a prompt, they can upload a piece of art in the medium of their choice and connect with other creators who share the same interests as them, simultaneously expanding their network and enabling their art to reach a wider audience.
