Our project's initial vision is to contribute to UN SDG 11 to build sustainable cities and communities via looking into climate-related problems and providing solutions. Our event map idea is inspired by a project Shelly, one of our two members' discovered during a visit to a contemporary themed museum, where it consists a media collection of users' updates and forms a live natural disaster report series and roadmap. We wanted to create a map that showed the risks of disasters for each region in the Philippines, we also wanted the map to provide people with services that could help them overcome the natural disasters. How we built it: We built our website and user interface with WIX.com and then incorporated necessary information that we would like our users to know about each region, at the same time, we made a presentation that would also include some extra resources. Challenges we ran into: Technical constraints and data accessibility issues are the main challenges that we have faced during the development of our project, where we are trying to come up with effective and concise messages. We are proud to have successfully developed a prototype of the climate event map, where we showcase localized climate data and assistive info for the Philippines communities. For future development, we look to incorporate more relevant data and perhaps developing an independent algorithm based on accessible database so that we can more effectively provide the foreseeable climate patterns.
