Inspiration

The UMass dining halls' ranking is a recurring discussion within our friend group, so we thought, "what if we built a platform to test that?". UMunch is our attempt at making a common social space to rank the dining halls every day.

What it does

You check in into the dining hall of your choice, rate it, drop a comment, or do both! You can view other user's ratings and comments, with the most recent comments displayed first. The app also calculates the average rating for each dining hall over the course of the day and displays them on the main page.

How we built it

Git, Github, Python, Auth0, MongoDB, CSS, HTML

Challenges we ran into

Configuring MongoDB, Flask, and Auth0 to communicate with each other seamlessly.

Building a functional social media web app from the ground up.

  • Add a "add friend/follower" feature
  • Statuses / Finding friends currently in the dining hall.
  • Better UI

  • Reviews/ratings get reset every day.
