I was inspired by the need for improving how umuganda participation is tracked and managed. due to the outdating of the previous system i find the opportunity in that case to use technology so as to improve accountability , transparency and motivation to this vital traditional action.

This system( UATS) will help citizens to fill and view their tendances and also to view and pay fines in case there is any, it will also help both local and sector leaders to record participation and monitor . I designed the system by first identifying the needs of citizens, local leaders and sector officials. Then i created user flows, wireframes and high fidelity prototypes using figma. i focused on clean design, accessibility, and responsive layout for both desktop and mobile users.

I found it challenging to design one system for that serves different user roles with unique needs. It was also difficult to balance fine enforcement with motivation features while keeping the interface simple, accessible, and easy to understand for all users.

I'm proud of designing a system that serves citizens, leaders and officials that will help to make Umuganda more organized, transparent and accountable which will encourage better participation, and stronger community involvement through a modern, digital approach.

I learned that technology can play a powerful rule in improving traditional systems like Umuganda and also how it can help to bring more order, fairness and motivation. I did also gain experience in designing for difference users, building prototypes, and managing our time well under pressure.

Next, i will plan to develop a working prototype and test it with real users from difference roles, i will also work on adding mobile payment integration, multiple languages support and more reword features, aiming to prepare the system for national rollout in the future.
