Inspiration

Inspired by the struggles of our friends and family in healthcare, we realized that cutting administrative overhead of patients with long histories is an opportunity to impact lives through reducing admin time and in turn increasing patient time which reduces wait times. We also realized that we are not the first to come up with this idea so we examined the real-world barriers to these solutions, namely, the heterogenous ecosystem of EMR softwares. We relied on our software engineering skills to address the gap.

What it does

Built on the dependancy injection design pattern, the tool is lean and can be integrated into a novel hospital backend with only a few hours of engineering time. At the cost of those hours, physicians at the medical institution gain access to an AI patient history summarizer grounded with AGS Beers, ACB Scale, DDInter, RxNav, and OpenFDA databases. We reference the material in the summary to minimize hallucination and provide quick browsing through the files. We never take the decision away from the physician, we equip them with the tools to come to better, more thorough conclusions faster. We meet the institutions where they are at and help them help people.

How we built it

We integrated the Gemini API for reasoning and linked to the different databases in a Python backend. We built up models of citations and hypothesis and synthesized into documents. We leveraged AI tools in the design process of the frontend and for thorough multi-stage multi-agent testing of Github PRs.

Challenges we ran into

Building something we are truly proud of within a short time constraint on little sleep. We only do this because we love it!!!!!!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • 100% test coverage was mandated for all PRs. We are proud we to practiced principled software engineering
  • We verified impact anecdotally, it made us proud to see our idea resonate with people in our lives who serve our communities through medicine
  • The UI is kinda clean 😏 ## What we learned Your user is your compass and you are only as productive as the systems you set in place. ## What's next for UMRAA Further software refinement, algorithmic iteration, and billions in VC funding 😎 (jk lol) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Qemd7UQ-47dvlTtHJJX_O8nmz10EZlmW?usp=drive_link
