UmojaCoin

Inspiration

We live in a world that is negatively impacted by war, what does a world focused on peace look like? UmojaCoin vision is that African systems would run best if there was more unity. This mechanism would not only help one area but the whole continent as a whole. To achieve this goal the whole of Africa would have believe in the power of unity.

What it does

UmojaCoin coin would be used by African countries in making trading deals with the rest of world. The goal is for fair market prices for goods and services all across the continent and in the diaspora.

How we built it

The idea that Africa didn’t have a thriving community prior to colonialism is false. In designing UmojaCoin research would be done to identify the slave routes which would in turn reveal how goods were traded in Africa prior to colonialism. This would help UmojaCoin researchers identify mathematically the most convenient ways of doing trade within Africa.

Challenges we ran into

Finding materials of trade within Africa as most trade has diverted to western economies who take resources and leave the African trade routes empty.
