Inspiration
Imagine, you have to create a SCRATCH project, and you mind is blank. You know what to do? You don't? Here 's what I'll do:
I'd start just thinking random ideas, (Actual thought process) Memory game? Meh, boring. Platformer? well, erm, I don't know how to scroll good. When that idea goes dry I try to think of games I'd play and I'd like, and know how to make: (Actual thought process) Mario? ...I don't have the right costumes. Kirby? ....needs scrolling, but the characters are easy to draw. I look deeper into Kirby, maybe, not scrolling, and just..... Waddle Dees to kill?
And like that, I've found an idea for a Scratch project.
What it does
So this little (almost) remix of Kirby was going pretty well! Oh, you wanted to know what it does, okay. So, the player has its own move set, a couple attacks, and a parasol. The Waddle Dees, walk around, and respawn every 5 seconds.
How I built it
How I built it? Now, first I needed costumes, a pink circle, two eyes, and two little bread feet, and boom! The player! Orange for the enemy and costumes, are done! I used number keys for attacks, arrow keys for movement, and Player scripts are done. The enemy, I don't use the real sprite and use clones instead. Basicly the player, and the game was complete.
Challenges we ran into
Not everything was smooth sailing, there were waves, bugs, and above all LAG , throughout the beginning, there was so much lag, and caused progress to slow down.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
This is probably the first good game that I created alone, it could be better, but I'm proud I got the player animation done.
What I learned
I learned a lot of thing while creating the project. I learned basic enemy programming, the basic player animation, and a lot of the graphic effects like pixilate, and mosaic effect.
What's next for Umbrella Attack
Well, honestly, I don't have much ideas, maybe a few more attacks, and a little land shaping instead of just a flat terrain, and maybe that'll be it.
