🌯 UMASS.FOOD
Purpose
Meal plans are costly, and students rarely know their real spending. UMass.food reveals cost per swipe, usage patterns, and dining trends in seconds. Students might identify $250+ in waste by staying on a meal plan. We tell student's if they're losing money by being on a meal plan
How It Works
Students forward their dining report to a unique @umass.food email. AWS SES and Lambda parse the data, generate a personalized analytics dashboard, and return a custom link instantly. Fully deployed with a custom analysis for UMass students.
Tech Stack and Architecture
Built with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, SES, Python (Pandas, NumPy), React.js, Next.js, and TailwindCSS. Serverless architecture ensures scalability, speed, and low maintenance.
Challenges
A deleted Lambda function with no required a rebuild and reinforced the importance of version control. Despite setbacks, we delivered a stable product on time.
What We’re Proud Of
A functional, polished tool that turns raw dining data into financial insight. Students can finally see where their money goes and make smarter meal plan choices.
