Inspiration
We have friend that struggle with meeting their nutritional needs, and we wanted to make a cool and visual way for them to meet their needs and keep track of their goals.
What it does
It takes meals from the umass dining app, and adds the nutrients to their profile.
How we built it
We used react and Next.js, with a firebase as the backend. We used web scraping for the foods nutritional facts.
Challenges we ran into
Webscraping the meals was harder than anticipated. Connecting the frontend and the backend was also a pain. We realized the essence of good coding structure when making our react pages.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A fully function UI. Being able to scrape the menu and add it to the profile.
What we learned
A lot of Web scraping and UI and backend. Being able to connect front and back end, and hosting backends on FIrebase.
